Ticket to Work at Catholic
Charities Brooklyn & Queens
an Approved Employment Network
The Social
Security Administration (SSA) will provide eligible beneficiaries
with a “Ticket to Work”. Use of the ticket is voluntary.
If the recipient chooses to use the ticket and go back to work,
he/she can obtain support from an Employment Network of their choice,
such as Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens.
As a "Ticket
to Work” Employment Network, Catholic Charities Brooklyn &
Queens will provide ticket holders with employment counseling, vocational
rehabilitation and other support services towards gainful employment.
The ultimate goal of Catholic Charities is to assist the ticket
beneficiary in becoming self-sufficient through employment and,
thus, no longer dependent on cash benefits from the Social Security
Administration.

If
you work, will you lose your Medicaid benefits?
No! Go
back to work, you will not lose your medicaid. In January 2002,
the NYS Assembly passed a bill called the Medicaid Buy-In program.
Participating in the Buy-In program means that you get to keep the
Medicaid even when you go back to work, by paying a portion of your
income each month to Medicaid—just like premiums paid by workers
for their Employment Health Insurance.
Do
you need to live in Brooklyn or Queens to select Catholic Charities
as your Employment Network?
No. Catholic
Charities will provide job placement and job preparation services
to all ticket recipients in the five boroughs of New York: Brooklyn,
Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island, as well as part of Nassau.
