It
is a very exciting time for Catholic Charities Brooklyn
and Queens' employment initiatives. The agency has opened
four state-of-the-art Career Resource Centers (CRC),
each located at the four Family Centers. Originally
these CRCs were only those whose employment status has
been affected by the events of 9/11, however as of 2005,
they are open to all job seekers.
The CRCs provide access to computers, fax and copier
machines for job search, and assistance with resume
writing, career counseling and job placement. Every
month each center features a 4 part seminar series called
Ready, Set, HIRED! , in addition to special speakers
and info sessions. Job seekers may test their skills
on the computer using Microsoft Office Skill Check,
or take a refresher computer course if needed. A monthly
calendar of events is available at each center.
To attain ongoing access to the CCBQ Career Resource
Centers, persons must complete the registration process.
Please schedule an appointment with the Employment Counselor
at one of the centers, complete a CCBQ questionnaire
and bring photo ID. Once a person is deemed eligible
for services, s/he will be issued a membership card
which is valid at all four centers.
