The Club
is conducted by seasoned professional and compassionate staff. Refreshments
are also provided.
Issues
discussed include
- Resume preparation:
- How to deal with gaps in one's work
history
- How to "Interview"
Participate
in mock interviews that are conducted between staff and participants, and participants
interviewing other participants
Objectives:
- To
identify and understand the current work environment
- The
current work requirements, such as needing to have Proper Identification
to start off with
- Assistance
in the methods of obtaining documentation necessary ie: Non-Driver's License
ID, etc
- Help
fulfill your needs, dreams and aspirations
To
Understand How Working Does Enhance One's Feeling of Self Worth:
Even
though working can affect SSI and SSD benefits, in the long run being gainfully
employed will provide you with more money than benefits alone.
Methods/Goals:
- Explore
volunteering as a means to begin to re-engage in society
- Go
Slow
- Identify
your strengths
- Identify
areas that need attention, such as obtaining computer and interview skills
- Find
the position you would love to work in
Focus:
To
identify and seek out what your talents are, so that working can become
a rewarding and uplifting experience, rather than a "hated" $6.00
per hour torture experience.
Good
Luck and we look forward to working with you!
